Understandably, they are very busy at the moment, but hopefully we will be able to provide you with books soon. Thank you for your understanding and patience. I will let you know as soon as possible.

Learning English through readingReading is one of the best ways to learn English. You can read at your own pace, whenever you have free time, about whatever subject you like. The University Library has a wide selection of readers at all levels, fiction and non-fiction, romance, comedy, mystery, movies, thrillers, biographies and many more.
You should be reading a book whenever you can: on the train, on the bus, while you are eating, before you go to bed at night and before you get up in the morning! To help you choose the level of reader, best for you, you can take the Cambridge Reader Test. It takes only a few minutes and is quite simple. As part of the course, you will need to read at least five books and submit a Reader Report on each book. You can write in English or Japanese, or both, but try to write in English as much as possible! The more you write, the better your grade. |

Who was Frederick Douglass? He was a slave in the American South who learnt to read, escaped to the North, became an anti-slavery campaigner and writer, and was made a diplomat. He travelled the world telling his story and fighting against slavery and for women's and workers' rights. He was a great hero for people around the world. Find out more here in English or in Japanese.
