Step 1: Open a  Google Drive Account

If you already have a Google Drive account, you do not need to do this step.

If you do not have a Google Drive account, you will need to make one. It is free, and is also very useful! Follow this link to open your account. Follow the steps.

Step 2: Make your audio File

First, you will need an audio recording app. If you do not have one, there are many free apps available to download. Choose one that is easy to use and that allows you to save the files.

Second, practice your reading a few times.
  • Your reading should be about 2 minutes long.
  • You can choose anywhere in the book.
  • Finish the page you are reading (so if it goes over 2 minutes a little bit, that is fine.)

Third, make your recording.
  • Make the recording in a quiet place.
  • Hint: Read for just a few seconds and then listen to the recording to make sure it is ok. Then, start again.
  • Begin by clearly saying your name and student number. ("My name is Yuki Suzuki, my student number is U173000")
  • Listen to your recording to make sure it is clear and not too short or too long.

Fourth, when you have finished the recording, give the file a name.
  • It must be your student number.
  • If asked, save it as an MP3 file (but most file types should be OK).

Step 3: Upload your file

Next, save it to your phone or computer.
  • Remember where you saved it (on an iPhone, you can save it to Files).
  • You can also save it directly to your Google Drive.
  • If you are not sure where it is saved (or you are not given a choice), then you will need to hunt around for it in the upload form.
  • Make sure the title of the file is your student number.
  • Make sure it is no more than 2-4MB big.

Finally, open this document, enter your student number and upload the file.
